MARRYING CYPRUS: THE IMAGE

"The relief mold I found it at Varosha (the Famagusta Ghost Town) surely belonged to Greek Cypriots. As a Turkish Cypriot, I painted it with gold colour to emphasise the inner light of wise man. So the shadow is the metaphysical representation of the shadow of inner form of the face mold. The story of the found piece ironically symbolises the rebirth of Venus as a smile of new life after tragic events (1974) in Cyprus."
